The ECOTIC Association opened a new collection center in Iași that aims to inform citizens about the correct collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries and accumulators (WBA) and to provide efficient collection solutions.

On Friday, October 25th, 2019, representatives of the Iasi Municipal Collection Center, of the environmental authorities, of the County School Inspectorate and of educational units from Iasi, of the collection and recycling partners, Salubris and Green WEEE, and also representatives of the local community interested in the possibilities to properly dispose of electronic waste and batteries, were invited to the Iasi Municipal Collection Center.

ECOTIC MOLDOVA thus comes closer to the citizens from this area, providing them and the companies with a collection center for responsible delivery of WEEE, bulbs and lamps and WBA. At the same time, ECOTIC MOLDOVA will organize awareness and collection campaigns for WEEE and WBA, thus promoting selective collection among young people and adults alike.

Present at the event, Radu Botez, Deputy Mayor of Iasi City Hall said: “Launching Ecotic Moldova is a new opportunity to emphasize that, Iași City Hall supports and encourages any request for information and awareness of citizens regarding the importance of the selective collection process, in this case, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste portable batteries and accumulators (WBA). Since the launch of the Iași Municipal Collection Center, three years ago, your efforts have supported the actions of the local authorities in Iasi, in order to maintain a cleaner environment, thus aligning us with the most demanding international standards. We welcome you to Iași and we wish you success in achieving your goals!”

“By opening ECOTIC Moldova we want to offer the inhabitants of Iasi and the Moldovan area new information opportunities and a range of efficient solutions for separate collection of WEEE, including home pick-up of electrical waste, as well as the possibility of getting involved in environmental protection projects”, said Valentin Negoita, ECOTIC President.
