Information campaign on the collection of electrical waste
On the occasion of Environment Day on June 5, ECOTIC together with InfoCons join hands to inform consumers about the importance of environmental protection and, implicitly, the separate collection of electrical waste.
- By consulting the FREE InfoCons App, consumers can find out useful information about the electronics and appliances they own or want to purchase. By scanning the QR code on the energy label, they can find out the energy consumption, the manufacturer, the technical characteristics and they can also access an energy consumption calculator - it allows consumers to find out how much a certain product from the category of electronics and household appliances consumes over a period of time. This facility is useful in the context of purchasing reliable and sustainable products from the point of view of energy consumption and environmental protection.
For the delivery of electrical waste, ECOTIC supports consumers with free collection solutions available to anyone, to be able to dispose of them correctly and responsibly. Calling the unique number 0219641 consumers can find out what are the solutions for handing over electrical waste at the national level and which are the counties where ECOTIC can pick up bulky electrical waste directly from the citizen's home, from the company's headquarters or the institution's headquarters.

On the occasion of Environment Day, ECOTIC organizes a series of campaigns at the local level, in several localities in the country, starting primarily with the presence of the ECOTIC Caravan in Craiova. The information and electrical waste collection campaign takes place between May 29 and June 10, and the Caravan can be visited in front of the Marin Sorescu theater between June 06 and June 10.06, between 11:00 a.m. and 19:00 p.m. More details here.
The collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) has a very important stake from a dual perspective:
- E-waste contains hazardous substances – greenhouse gases or heavy metals that are very harmful to the environment and our health.
- Important amounts of secondary raw materials can be recovered; Electrical waste has a high degree of recycling-reuse (between 85-90%)
The separate collection of electrical waste, through ECOTIC, makes it possible recycling correctly, according to European standards, without polluting the environment and utilizing the resulting secondary raw materials for the production of new equipment or goods that will later receive a new life in consumers' homes. Thus, the resources already used are reused without the need to extract the raw materials from the mines, which involves an expensive and polluting process.
