ECOTIC and ECOTIC BAT kicked off the third edition of the “School of Ecoterrians” project, an awareness and collection campaign for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries and accumulators (DBA).

Starting with October 7, 2019, ECOTIC and ECOTIC BAT invite schools to be part of the new national project for awareness and collection of electrical equipment and used batteries. The project focuses on 2 main directions: that of awareness in which the participating schools will implement ecological education activities and that of waste collectionand of echelectrical and electronic equipment, light bulbs and lamps and waste batteries and accumulators.

The main stages of the project are:

  1. School enrollment
  2. Participation of school representatives registered for the webinar on the project
  3. Preparation and conduct of activities
  4. Final collection of WEEE and DBA
  5. Evaluation and announcement of winners

Schools enrolled in the project will receive a set of eco-information and education materials and a set of containers in which they will be able to collect waste electrical and electronic equipment, lighting fixtures and waste batteries and accumulators.

The activities will be carried out in advance with the lessons learned in class, from the moment of receiving the related materials. The collection of the resulting waste (WEEE and DBA) will be done towards the end of the school year, and the judging and awarding will take place in June 2020.

"We want to create a community of teachers interested in environmental protection and environmental education and, together, educate the next generation. Students are becoming more active and aware of the importance of selective collection, and our project comes to their aid with both information and solutions for the collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment and waste batteries. ” declares Valentin Negoiță, president of ECOTIC.

Vodafone Romania is a sponsor of the project, financially supporting the awards. Thus, 13 prizes will be awarded for schools that have collected the largest amount of WEEE, DBA and light bulbs and neons.
