Schools throughout the country can also participate this year in the national program of ecological education and collection of electrical waste and batteries - School of Ecoterriers.
On September 18, 2024, ECOTIC and ECOTIC BAT, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forests, launch the XNUMXth edition of the national Ecoterrian School program - a program dedicated to primary and secondary schools that want to promote good environmental practices and educating future generations about separate waste collection and environmental protection
The School of Ecoterrians, the 7th edition, will take place during the period September 18, 2023 – May 16, 2024 and aims to raise students' awareness of the importance of environmental protection and the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment waste (including light sources) and of Battery.
In the previous edition, from the 2023-2024 school year, the 475 registered schools collected 111 tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment and 15 tons of waste batteries and accumulators. The involvement of teachers and students is increasing towards the correct behavior regarding the separate collection of WEEE and DBA.
Registrations for the 2024-2025 edition are made between September 18 and October 3, 2024, by accessing the platform https://scoalaecoterrienilor.ecotic.ro/, where each teacher can create an account for their school.
What's new in the 7th Edition?
The 7th edition of Ecoterrian School comes with a new mechanism activities, with the active involvement of students and with a platform which includes, as transparently as possible, the activity of each school, so that, at the end, each school can see the progress during the program.
The dedicated platform is launched on September 18, 2024, on the occasion of the launch of the new edition of the "School of Ecoterrians" program and invites all teachers to register their school to accumulate points and win the prizes offered by ECOTIC and ECOTIC BAT.
Another novelty of this edition would be the fact that students can actively participate in accumulating points in the school account by completing the lessons and homework proposed by ECOTIC.
More details here about registration and access to the platform.
What type of educational institutions can apply?
As in every edition, primary and/or secondary schools are invited to enroll in the program through The SE platform with the promise of a much more interactive and transparent edition.
The schools will receive a kit of materials consisting of mini containers for students and a set of containers in which they will be able to collect waste electrical and electronic equipment, lighting fixtures and waste batteries and accumulators at school.
The prize is awarded differently compared to previous editions, so the first 10 schools with the highest scores will each be awarded with a voucher whose value is determined by the place in the top.
Teachers are invited to encourage students to collect points in the school account by doing homework from the dedicated platform. At the same time, teachers can accumulate points by teaching WEEE and DBA and by doing practical activities with students. All this information will be found in the platform, in each school's account.
Last year's edition of the School of Ecoterrians marked a record of participation and involvement from teachers and students, and for this we thank them!
"Having reached its 7th edition, the national program "School of Ecoterrians" promises to bring even more involvement of students and teachers in learning and promoting good environmental practices, providing them with resources and a platform that facilitate their participation in the program. We encourage teachers to enroll the schools they belong to, for a future as green and sustainable as possible!", declares Valentin Negoiță, President of ECOTIC.
