ECOTIC together with City Hall and Cluj-Napoca Local Council and Super com organizes, between June 26-30, a campaign to collect waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), including light bulbs and neon lights from the citizens of Cluj-Napoca. Residents will have the opportunity to hand over to the collection points made available by Supercom or request collection of bulky electrical waste from home.
According to the study "The habits of the Romanian population regarding small electrical equipment" developed by ECOTIC in 2022, only 8,4% of households in Romania get rid of them correctly, and the rest are thrown away together with household waste, given to informal scrap metal collectors or simply abandoned on public space. This is caused by a still low level of awareness and above all by the lack of correct handover solutions for recycling. Only 29% of citizens would know about an electrical waste collection point.
The teaching solutions provided by the organizers during the campaign are:
Delivery to Supercom collection points on:
- Bucium Street
- FN Factory Street, under the North Terapia Bridge
The operating hours are: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 09:00 and 16:00.
Home collection of bulky electrical equipment waste.
Pickup orders can be made by phone at 0747 326 842 (between 08:00 and 16:00)
Those who hand in a minimum of 15 kg of electrical waste will receive an instant prize consisting of 2 LED bulbs.
"We want to offer the people of Cluj handy solutions for handing over for recycling the electrical waste generated in households. The campaigns carried out together with ECOTIC are an opportunity to remind the citizens of the collection points that are permanently available to them, throughout the year," declares Lucian Pop, Regional Coordinator at the Ecotic Association.
