Waste is not self-removable! Abandoned at one's will, discarded electrical and electronic equipment and home appliances have an irreversible impact on the environment and implicitly on our own lives. That is why we, the ECOTIC Association, manage the entire process of collecting and recycling such waste.

The dynamics of technological innovation leads to the rapid development of electrical and electronic equipment. The lifespan of such equipment has consequently been reduced to half of the value reached in the ‘70s, due to the offer of equipment of superior performance, reduced energy consumption and more and more convenient prices.

Discarded electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) represent an ever growing problem for companies and institutions when they are not properly collected, treated and recycled, but rather disposed of or thrown away at random. Some of the components of such waste equipment contain lead, cadmium, mercury and other substances that are hazardous to the environment and human health.

In order to protect the environment, re-use the resources and educate the users, the Romanian legislation regulates the discarding and collection of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and has established fines for any breach of environmental protection laws.

The European WEEE legislation is firm and requires a new type of behavior based on the implementation of the selective collection and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
ECOTIC, the first association of the electronic equipment manufacturers in Romania, has established an integrated system of management for WEEE selective collection and recycling in 2007 and was the first to introduce the green stamp at the purchase of electrical and electronic equipment.

All companies have the obligation, according to the law, to selectively collect the WEEEs. Should the laws be disregarded, the companies are liable to legal sanction, irrespective of their field of activity.

Any manufacturer, distributor or trader of electrical and electronic equipment as well as any company generating WEEE may join ECOTIC in order to fulfill their obligations regarding the WEEE collection and recycling.
